Critical Incident Support

What is Critical Incident Support (CIS)

Critical Incident Support (CIS) is a structured response provided after a traumatic or high-impact event in the workplace to help employees stabilise emotionally, reduce the risk of long-term psychological harm, and support recovery. It includes immediate support such as psychological first aid, group or individual debriefing, and follow-up care to restore wellbeing, safety, and team cohesion.

At Leapwell, we provide Critical Incident Support to help teams respond to trauma with care, restore stability, and support recovery in the moments that matter most.

FAQs About Critical Incident Support

A critical incident is any sudden, high-impact event that causes distress, disruption, or trauma among employees.

This may include serious workplace accidents, the death of a colleague, customer-related incidents, natural disasters, or other emotionally challenging situations requiring immediate support.

Critical incident response is arranged by contacting your Leapwell representative or our help line to organise onsite assistance.

Support is provided on the same day or within an agreed timeframe, depending on your location.

Our team responds quickly and compassionately to ensure your people are supported when they need it most.

Our comprehensive critical incident response includes team debriefs, facilitated group sessions, one-on-one counselling, incident reporting, and onsite assistance to help employees stabilise, regroup, and recover.

Employees receive structured, compassionate care through group debriefs, smaller discussion groups, and private one-on-one counselling sessions.

Our focus is on providing a safe space for individuals to process their experiences, access immediate support, and feel heard and reassured during a challenging time.

We partner closely with HR teams and organisational leaders to manage the response.

This includes assisting with internal communications, guiding staff wellbeing support, providing reporting and consultation, and offering follow-up wellbeing check-ins to ensure ongoing recovery and resilience across the workplace.
