At Leapwell, confidentiality is a core part of our Employee Assistance Program (EAP). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you understand how your information is handled.
This statement explains how confidentiality works, what its limits are, and your rights when accessing the Leapwell EAP.
What confidentiality means
Your use of the Leapwell EAP is confidential. Information you share with a Leapwell clinician is not disclosed to your employer or anyone else without your consent, except in specific situations outlined below.
Leapwell does not share individual client names, session details, or identifying information with employers.
What information is recorded
Leapwell keeps a record of your contact with the EAP. This includes basic details about your engagement and clinical notes created by your clinician to support safe and effective care.
Records are kept securely and managed in line with privacy laws and professional standards.
How information is used and reported
Leapwell provides organisations with de-identified, aggregated reports about EAP usage. These reports may include overall usage levels and general themes, but they do not identify individuals.
No personal or identifying information is shared with your employer.
Limits to confidentiality
There are limited situations where confidentiality may need to be breached. These include when:
- there is a serious risk of harm to you or another person
- there are concerns about child abuse or neglect, where reporting is required by law
- disclosure is required by law or a court order
If possible, your clinician will discuss this with you before any information is shared.
Management or organisational referrals
In some situations, an organisation may refer an employee to the EAP. Even in these cases, the content of counselling sessions remains confidential.
Information is only shared with an employer if you give clear and informed consent, and only the information you agree to share will be disclosed.
Telephone and online counselling
For telephone or online counselling, confidentiality and its limits will be explained verbally and/or you will be directed to this Confidentiality & Privacy Statement before the service proceeds.
By continuing with the service, you confirm that you understand how confidentiality applies.
Access to your records
You have the right to request access to your own records. Requests are managed in line with privacy and professional requirements.
If you would like to request access to your records or have questions about confidentiality, you can contact Leapwell using the details provided on our website.
How we protect your information
Leapwell uses secure systems and access controls to protect your information. Access to records is limited to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis.
Questions or concerns
If you have any questions about confidentiality or privacy, please contact Leapwell before accessing the service. We are happy to explain this information further.
